QUALITY CONTROL

Stringent quality control ensures that all the activities of the Company are so carried out that the customer is assured of quality of castings claimed hitherto by the Company with full reverse-process traceability. The customers have developed a trust and preferences for the castings developed by SHAL, and are satisfied with reliability, prompt delivery, consistent quality and the most competitive rates. 

SHAL Quality Management System is certified by the ISO 9001 standard by Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI). The Company's manufacturing quality is consistently higher than industry specifications.

Quality control prevails right from inspection of raw materials involved, in process engineering, and finished products. The Organization works according to a comprehensive system with predefined specifications, parameters, testing standards for each and every activity.

Our Quality Control procedures necessary in-line with requirements of third party inspectors are already in place since we are ISO 9001 company since 1999; still we have taken some major concrete steps as confidence building measures for our pumps and valves manufacturers:
  • Universal testing machine Our universal testing machine was calibrated
  • Welder Qualification  Our 2 welders are qualified and approved by Lloyds for Steel as well as stainless Steel welding.
  • Spectrometer & HT  Our Spectrometer and Heat Treatment facility is approved by Third party inspection agencies.
  • Radiographic quality  We have done radiographic quality import substitution jobs in CF8M under Lloyds where physical, chemical, D.P. and radiography was done in presence of Lloyds Register Surveyor and Approved.
  • Third party inspection  We have done jobs under third party inspection of Lloyds, BVQI, SGS, INTERTEK, IRS, NPC, NTPC, BHEL etc. where UT, MPI, Radiography, D.P. testing etc were involved. We are doing jobs as per NACE specification also.
 
   
Quality Assurance  
   

At SHAL, we have built our reputation on quality. It is fundamental that a business enterprise exists only because of its satisfied customers. The reputation of SHAL, reflected in the dedication of our people and our expanding list of customers, has been built by consistently producing castings to their exact specifications.

In combination with our experienced, dedicated staff, control of quality is accomplished by using the most modern and exacting laboratory equipment available.

Before a heat of metal is poured it must first pass a rigid quality inspection. A test sample or "button" is taken from the heat before it is poured. A modern optical emission spectrometer is used to perform a complete chemical analysis. The chemical analysis is part of the step-by-step quality check routine to insure that each casting meets our customer's specifications.

  • Nickel: Hastelloy®, 17-4PH, Niresist, Nitronics®
  • Ni-Hard & Hi-Chrome
  • Carbon and Low Alloy Steels
